Volleyball Definitions

Volleyball definitions include some fundamental terms used by volleyball players and coaches today.

13. T F Screen: 2 or more teammates are standing together without bending over and their teammate serves the ball over their heads.

14. T F Captain: the only player who can talk to the officials.

15. T F Serve: a hit with one or two hands that begins a rally by directing the ball over the net.

16. T F Lineup: a list of all the names and numbers of the players on the team.

These definitions take a little scrutiny to clearly understand. Did you choose "True" on all of your answers above? Go back and look again before checking your answers below.

13. T

14. T

15. F - Only 1 hand (1 arm or 1 fist, also okay) is allowed to be used on the serve.

16. F - This is the definition of a roster. A lineup only includes the names and numbers of the starting 6 players.
